"In
1990, the year after Hurricane Hugo, a friend and I drove over to see what had happened to
the Bald Eagle's nest on Seewee Road which had been there for years. The nest and even the
tree was gone. We drove on toward Moore's landing and soon found a loblolly pine on the
left with a new nest and juvenile exercising its wings on the side of the tangle of sticks
which made the nest. Soon an adult Eagle cane in sight with a fish dinner for the flapping
Eaglet.
"When the feeding was over the adult perched nearby, preened its feathers, and looked
very regal on the graceful loblolly pine branch. That was the painting that I decided to
do. It took 5 months to complete the painting in 1991. Soon after, it left my studio for
Chicago where it was purchased.
